Postnatal Contraception

Most contraception methods are suitable to use if you've recently had a baby and want to space your next pregnancy, or require long term contraception. Most are also safe to use while breastfeeding. You should have started contraception by three weeks after your baby is born if you are not planning another pregnancy straight away. It is safer for you and any future pregnancy to wait at least 12 months before getting pregnant again.

You can watch a video explaining more about contraception options after childbirth above.
